Breaking Day

The Story of Breaking Day

Nicole Garcia Crisologo | Miranda Siegersma | Gabriela Tristan | Emily Pince

Breaking Day was created with an idea to help young aspiring musical artists develop into formidable superstars. It is the brainchild of Toma "Maskerade" Johnson, an aspiring artist, producer and songwriter who wanted to his own artists to write for. Maskerade got tired of submitting hundreds of songs to middlemen. He grew tired of dealing with individuals who are not songwriters or producers, but still critique and make important decisions in music.

In March of 2011, Maskerade held auditions for his group to be named "Breaking Day", meaning "a breath of fresh air". On April 25, 2011, the first girls of Breaking Day were formed. Originally, the group started with five girls, but through different setbacks and conflicts of interest, only two of the original group members remain. The two are Miranda and Nicole. They remain an integral part of the BDG sound.

Emily joined the group in August 2011 and Gabriela came along in December 2011. Soon after knowing that the group was a solid core, production continued on their debut album "Daylight".

In June of 2011 Maskerade joined forces with long-time friend David "Blak Bond" Neal and his brother Anthony Neal. Having seen the tremendous work put forth and the overall look of the group, both Anthony and David were convinced that Breaking Day could go places. Bringing in fellow artist Milli Gang, Anthony, David, and Maskerade created Corporate Ballin Records. An immediate push to bring the girls to the forefront of the music world began.

Breaking Day's very first performance came in May of 2011 in San Diego. That particular show was extremely unorganized and the girls had to lip sync to their first recorded song. Soon after that, the quartet performed a string of over 40 performances throughout San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange County, and mainly the Inland Empire. Maskerade believed that performing this much would help increase the group's experience and help them sharpen their skills.

During this time, Breaking Day was also in the studio working on over 25 new songs. Each performance got better and better every time. Early 2012, BDG was nominated in two categories at the 2012 Artist in Music Awards. The girls showcased their new performance skills to Hollywood at the world famous Key Club on Sunset Blvd. With that experience came three more nominations for the 2012 Los Angeles Music Awards.

In October and November of 2011, Breaking Day was overrun with excitement to find that one of their singles, "Work the Wall", was played live on KJLH FM Radio in Inglewood, California. That was one of the highlights of their careers as they heard their own voices and the DJ shout their name out on commercial radio for the first time. The event was followed up by many more instances during the course of two months. Although the album wasn't ready, that was still quite an accomplishment.

Early 2012, Breaking Day was also chosen to be the face of Voices That Care 2012. It was during this time that Corporate Ballin came in contact with publicist Michael Conley who took a special interest in being the group's publicist. We were also introduced to Jeff Timmons of 98 Degrees. Negotiations have continued on a reunion tour for 98 Degrees in which BDG may become an opening act.

In April 2012, Corporate Ballin Records released Breaking Day's debut album entitled "Daylight". The initial run had been met with much anticipation as all of BDG's local fans had be clamoring for the set for quite some time. Finally, the set has arrived and sales of the collection are currently through the roof.

Look for Breaking Day to come to your city soon as the label is in continued talks with agents for a nationwide tour. Daylight is planned to be in several big box stores by end of 2012. For now it is available online in the Breaking Day Store and through the Corporate Ballin Website as well.

Our adventure continues. Only time will tell if Breaking Day will truly break through and connect with millions of fans. If you are a fan of Breaking Day, we hope that you'll tell everyone you know about them. Make sure your friends know that there's not big corporation with loads of money behind this movement. This group is about the music and the songs. We hope you love the songs. We hope you never forget the music!

Who Is Breaking Day?

Breaking Day is a Pop/R&B recording artist from Southern California. Their style of music is similar to Danity Kane & Destiny's Child, mixed in with a little Katy Perry. If you love these artists, then you will love the girls of Breaking Day!

The quartet consists of Nicole from Palos Verdes, Miranda from Yucaipa, Emily from San Diego and Gabriel from San Diego as well. These four girls never knew each other before joining the group, but their dreams and desires to be recording artists brought them close very quickly.

As their journey continues, take a closer look at each individual girl and get to know them as real people. Know that they're not your average cookie-cutter pop stars. Nothing has been given to them. They have had to work every step of the way.
